South Sudan

Since December 2013 MU has been supporting those affected by the Civil War in South Sudan.  More than 1.5 million refugees have fled into surrounding regions such as Uganda etc.,  UN estimate a further 2 million are internally displaced of which 60% are children suffering malnutrition.

MU aims to fund a £50 K emergency relief project to help feed, clothe  and provide post conflict trauma support for refugees.  The first phase is focused around Diocese of Madi & West Nile in NW Uganda where 500,000 people are living in makeshift shelters.

April 2017 - an initial grant of £10,500 sent to Madi and West Nile Diocese to be used to train Psychosocial Support Workers who will work with refugees suffering from Trauma.

13MU is currently awaiting other surrounding dioceses to inform them of the needs in their area in order for MU Relief efforts to be mobilised in most efficient ways.

Our concern here in Bristol Diocese MU is the plight of MU members in Pacong Diocese, South Sudan, one of our Wave of Prayer Links.  Pacong Diocese is east of Rumbek in the central area of South Sudan, 1  of 48 Dioceses in Episcopal Church of South Sudan.
